South Downs & Coast Footpaths Map

Walks in the South Downs     Circular cycle routes

This Ordnance Survey map (below) includes two specially beautiful areas on and near England’s south coast. One is the South Downs National Park, stretching from Winchester in the west to the coastal town of Eastbourne in the east. The Sussex villages of Petersfield and Midhurst at its heart. Another area is the Chichester Harbour AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), a flat coastal region of estuaries and peninsulas south-west of Chichester.

For walking and cycling in England, Ordnance Survey maps are the best; either individual paper maps or a subscription to OS web maps and phone app covering the whole country.

The free Ordnance Survey map on this page, when zoomed in to show footpaths in red, is the same as the OS Landranger (1:50000 scale) paper maps. OS Explorer maps, with footpaths in green, are much more detailed at 1:25000 scale. An annual subscription to Ordnance Survey gives access to these fantastic maps for the whole of Britain.
